Auditions for the World Jewish Philharmonic Orchestra

To apply for the World Jewish Philharmonic program, applicants must submit an audition recording according to the specified repertoire for their instrument in the form of a YouTube link (set to "public" or "unlisted") or a Muvac.com link. Applicants who would like to receive sheet music for the orchestral excerpts from the list of required audition recordings should send an email request to contact@worldjewishphilharmonic.eu. Terms of Participation

 §1 GENERAL INFORMATION 

1. The World Jewish Philharmonic 2025 program (hereinafter referred to as the "Program") will take place from June 14 to June 20, 2025, in Wrocław and will conclude with the final concert on June 19, 2025, at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław.

2. Participants will arrive at the hotel on June 14 in the afternoon. Check out is on June 20, 2025 at 11 a.m.

3. The first orchestra rehearsal will take place on June 15, 2025. A detailed schedule for the week will be provided to participants.

4. By submitting the application, the participant agrees to the free use of their image (including photographs, video recordings, and other media) for promotional, informational, and archival purposes related to the Program and its future editions, without time or territorial limitations.

5. The Program is organized by the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland (hereinafter referred to as the "Organizer") as part of the Artistic Education Program of the Polish Presidency in the European Union 2025, supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

 

§2 RECRUITMENT PROCESS AND JURY  

1. All applications will be evaluated by the Jury listed in point for of this paragraph.

2. Based on the applications, the Jury will select 80 instrumentalists to form the World Jewish Philharmonic.

3. Information about the recruitment results will be provided to participants by May 20, 2025 via email.

4 The jury evaluating applications and supervising the Program consists of the following members:

  • Maestro Gergely Madaras (Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège)

  • Prof. Tomasz Tomaszewski (Deutsche Oper Berlin, Universität der Künste Berlin)

  • Piotr Prysiażnik (Deutsche Oper Berlin)

  • Zvi Carmeli (Jerusalem Academy of Musik ann Dance) ​​

  • Marlena Grodzicka-Myślak (NFM Filharmonia Wrocławska)

  • Noa Chorin (Israel Chamber Orchestra, West Eastern Divan Orchestra)

  • Meirav Kadichevski (Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, West-Eastern Divan Orchestra)

  • Jan Krzeszowiec (National Forum of Musik, Wrocław, Poland​​

  • David Lyndon Smith (Principal trumpet Singapore Symphony Orchestra) ​

  • Zbigniew Monkiewicz (Philharmonie der Nationen, Würth Philharmoniker)

 

In addition to the 80 participants admitted to the workshops, there will also be a reserve list. Applicants will be informed of which group they belong to.

 

§3 PARTICIPATION AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS  

1. Participation in the Program is open to individuals who meet the following criteria:

   a) At least 18 years old as of June 14, 2025.

   b) Jewish heritage and current student or graduate status at a music university/academy.

2. To participate, applicants must submit a complete application form no later than May 17, 2025.

3. Each applicant must submit a competition recording according to the specified repertoire for their instrument in the form of a YouTube link (set to "public" or "unlisted") or a Muvac.com link.

4. Recording requirements:

  1. Instrumental concertos may be recorded solo or with piano accompaniment.

  2. The recording must not be older than one year.

  3. The entire silhouette of the performer must be visible in the video.

Selected participants will be required to sign and submit a scanned declaration of participation.

§5 PROGRAM 

1. The Program includes five (5) full days of artistic workshops conducted by Jury members and distinguished musicians.

2. Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals, workshops, and the final concert is mandatory for all selected participants.

3. The final concert will take place on June 19, 2025, at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław.

§6 FINANCIAL TERMS 

1. The organizers provide all participants with:

   a) Accommodation in a hotel of at least three (3) stars from June 14 to June 20, 2025. Rooms will be shared. Participants may reserve a single room for an additional fee, subject to availability.

   b) Three (3) meals per day during the Program (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

2. Travel costs to and from Wrocław are covered by participants at their own expense.

3. Double basses will be provided on-site; participants do not need to bring their own instruments.

4. Tuba, harp, contrabassoon and percussion instruments will be provided on-site by the Organizer.

5. Cellists will receive support in obtaining a scholarship to cover the cost of an airline ticket for their instrument.

§7 HEALTH INSURANCE AND SAFETY

  1. Participants are responsible for their own safety during the workshops. The organizer does not provide health insurance for the duration of the workshops; participants must arrange their own insurance coverage.

 

§8 COPYRIGHT REGULATIONS

  1. Participants hereby irrevocably assign and transfer to the Organizer, without additional remuneration, all proprietary copyright and related rights to the recordings of the final concert, including but not limited to the rights of reproduction, distribution, public performance, communication to the public, and adaptation, for an unlimited duration and without territorial restrictions.

  2. The Organizer shall have the exclusive right to use, edit, reproduce, distribute, and exploit the recordings in any media and format, including but not limited to online platforms, broadcasts, and commercial purposes, for promotional, archival, and informational use. Participants shall be credited appropriately in all public distributions of the recordings.
